I've only made "stamp-like" brushes before, and wanted to try making something else. I was intending to make my own cross hatching brushes, but I was having fun experimenting with all the different settings. I think I learned a few things.
In addition to the brushes, I'm including the materials I used. Five were made specifically for this, and the other two were repurposed from other projects of mine.
Gritty Spray. Gets denser with pressure. Switching the blending mode to 'eraser' makes a neat eraser, I think.

Hatch Line. Lines and gentle curves work. Wiggling back and forth too much chops the line up.

Hatchy Marker. Increasing pressure makes it darker and rougher. With light pressure, the edges are smooth. More pressure, and the edges are rough.

Dirty Gritty Cross Hatch. Gets darker with more pressure.

Bold Hatch Ribbon. Goes in the direction of the line.

Wobbly Wide Paint Brush. Main color blends and pulls the color on the canvas. Going back and forth sharply can have messy corners.
