■A famous sword that wears history
"Doshikiri Anzuna" is a sword by "Anzuna", one of the oldest surviving swordmakers. It is a famous sword that is counted among the five swords under the heavens, and it can be said that it is the most famous sword of the Japan.

There are many legends, but the most famous is the anecdote by Minamoto Yorimitsu. The legend that he used this sword to cut off the head of a demon who settled on Mt. Oe, a sake drinker, remained as the issue of Doshikiri and solidified its position as a famous sword.

■歴史を纏う名刀
『童子切安綱』は、在銘現存作のある刀工としては、最も古い人物の一人である『安綱』による太刀です。天下五剣に数えられる名刀で、日本刀の中でも最も有名な一振りと言えるでしょう。

その伝説は枚挙に暇がありませんが、名高いのはやはり源頼光による逸話。大江山に住み着いた鬼、酒呑童子の首をこの太刀で切り落としたという伝説は、童子切という号として残り、名刀としての地位を確固たる物にしました。

武家の棟梁たる源氏から、足利将軍家、豊臣家、徳川家など名家を渡り歩き、現在は東京国立博物館に所蔵されています。

その切れ味も素晴らしく、江戸時代に町田長太夫という試し切りの達人が、罪人の死体を6つ重ねて切断し、尚且つその刃は土台にまで達したとされるほど。

大包平と並び日本刀東西の両横綱と称され、歴史上の刀剣の中でも特に優れた作品であることは間違いありません。

糸巻太刀拵も、その刀身にふさわしい格調高い姿をしています。落ち着いた色合いの梨地の鞘と、細部まで作り込まれた刀装。伝説で彩られた歴史的名刀を丁寧に再現しました。

日本が誇る美術品としても、その歴史的意義からも日本刀文化に欠かせない一振りです。
