This material can be used in Studio Mode. (What is Studio Mode?)

Applies a non-destructive chromatic aberration effect to the currently selected layer (FX layer group on top).

This auto action creates a non-destructive layer group that applies chromatic aberration to the current layer.

How does it work?

The action creates 3 layers - one for each color channel - through level correction.
  • Blue is preserved in Normal blending mode to serve as base.
  • Red and Green are changed to Add blending mode on top of blue.
  • Red is moved to the left, Green is moved to the right.

Cutomization:
  • You can manually position the red and green layers to adjust effect intensity.
  • You can create and paint a layer mask and apply it to the whole group, to selectively remove the effect from specific areas or control intensity through alpha values.
  • You can also change the group opacity to tweek effect intensity.
Notes:
  • The source layer must be unlocked and visible.
  • The created copies will be rasterized.
  • If you want to apply it to the whole canvas, you probably should first: Layer > Merge Visible to New Layer.
