A textured sketching, painting, & drawing set to experiment with over the summer.

I'm going on vacation - take this set!

Just a big fun gift of fun textured brushes for all you guys hanging around & following me these past 5 years.  I'm at almost 2000 followers, thank you so much! I'm grateful people enjoy these resources, thank you all for being so nice!🙇‍♀️  I'm obligated to say if you'd like more brushes you can find me as saturnsday on Gumroad, but don't worry, only look if you feel like it. :)

Back to this set: it's too hot to go outside.  The UV index is extreme, the humidity is over 50%, and the temperature is like 32C/90F.  It means it's the perfect time to build a digital brush set for everyone stuck inside like me (and a set you can use on your tablet if you go outside).

This set is a lot of experimenting.  It has a little bit of everything, from sketching to painting, and seems to excel at messy impressionism.  Please adjust these to whatever is comfortable to you!  Duplicate a brush & change it until it is unrecognizable if you'd like, these are something I encourage you to play with. :D

Painting:

(Left to Right)
Pond Shine Paint - Made from a photograph of a pond I took.  Color jitter, can be used to paint or texture.  Adjust spacing & angles for different looks. Can be used for very sharp surface waves on water.
Tortellini Tortillion - There's no pasta, just a weird particle painter, my apologies. (top orange)
Daydreaming Square - It's a square with a canvas texture that smudges together well for a cute painterly look.  (bottom 2 apricot strokes)

Warm Waters Paint - A watercolor paintbrush that can be layered on top of itself gently.  Uses a bumpy cold press watercolor paper texture, but doesn't blend.
Ghost Boy Brush - A wild texturing brush with big strokes.  Crispy edges, turning off mixing makes it softer.  Another brush that is great for impressionism & impressionist looks.

Tidal Tempest Paint - A decent acrylic paint that only slightly blends.  Feel free to adjust it to your liking.  It has color jitter on for a more chaotic effect!
Windy Indie Brush - This is a basic round that's enjoyable to use.  You can either keep it as a no mix for a slightly streakier look (top) or turn on mixing (bottom) for a sweet blendy look.  It is all up to you!

Rhinestone Eyes Paint - Increase color jitter for a "gemstone sparkle" look.  Adds variance fast.
Dramaphone Paint - Another watery paint, this time with a subtle texture.  To have it blend better, turn the opacity up.  Feel free to turn off the border if it bugs you.

Drawing:

No Rest for the Wicked Pen - Great for sketching and inky drawings.  Fun to hatch with, fun to contour line with!
Tailfeather Pen - A funky pen with a sharp look and great stroke variance.  Dips and dives well.

Girl You Want Pen - I love sketching & drawing with this.  Can't explain it.  Just fun!
Comics Palace Pen - A subtly textured pen that is great for sharp corners.  Gives a good thick inky look.  I think this one is alright as is but I might modify it in the future.

Small Brush Pen - Reminds me of a disposable brush pen.  Feel free to adjust thickness & size curves.
Shatter Pen - The texture is made from glass!  A crunchy pen for crunchy things.

Plume Pen - When pulled, it looks like a feather.  Good for calligraphy and hatching, very bold.
Roam if we Want to Pencil - A VERY textured pencil.  Crunchy, good for sketches and details on rough paintings.

Markers:

All Too Much Marker - A delicious marker with a texture from the skin of an apple!
Moonchild Marker - A subtly textured marker that can gently blend colors together.

Other Sketch:

How Bizarre Pastel - A really bizarre pastel-thing.  Can be used as a pencil or as a painter too, I guess.
Spellbound Brush - A brush that layers colors together nicely.  Comes out streaky, great for hair, cloth wrinkles, tufts, & feathers.  There's a blender below that works great with it.

Texturizing:

Tie-Dye - Not EXACTLY the perfect tie-dye dip pattern, but pretty close.  Great for groovy looks!
Asteroid Belt - It's too weird to use as a pen for me, but can make for some very interesting line art.
I Came to Bring the Grain - Hardcore Grain for the hardcore brains.  Easily applied.  There's a roller grain texture too I forgot to preview that works the same way.  Feel free to adjust both.
Bedbugs & Ballyhoo - A dense spray.  Great for foam & mist coming off water.
Locomotive Breath Airbrush - Like the smoke from a train.  Has a very subtle noise texture, great if you want to add a bit of pores to skin or a bit of fuzz to something.
Private Idaho Potato Masher - The tip looks like a potato.  It gives a weird texture you can fill backgrounds or open areas with, really fun to scribble.

Lastly, the two blenders.
1. Tortillion - Also known as a blending stump, the tortillion is a favorite of dry media artists everywhere.  This sorta replicates the look digitally.
2. Spellbound Blender - The spellbound brush, but blendy.  It can either add or subtract streaks.

Ok everyone, have a good summer, stay safe and have fun if you can! 💙

Hi, I'm Saturn and I enjoy Pixel Art & making CSP assets too much. Most of my stuff is free, but I also have some fancy brushes you can buy in my links. Feel free to check it out, but no worries if you only use free stuff. It's meant to be used anyway! :D
