This material is a 3D model that reproduces the blade of the famous sword "Mikazuki Munechika" that has carved its name in history as accurately as possible.
The dimensions of the blade, the layering and original width, the structure of the ridge, the shape of the stem, and the position of the eye nail hole are modeled based on detailed materials.
The fist, including the brim and armor, was also carefully finished in detail.

■A famous sword that wears history
"Mikazuki Munechika" is a famous sword that is counted as one of the best five swords under Tenka, among the Japan swords. There is a famous anecdote that Ashikaga Yoshiteru, the thirteenth shogun of the Muromachi shogunate, struggled wielding this sword in the strangeness of Eiroku.
It is said that the name was given because there are many sword blades on the blade that shine like a crescent moon.
Not only the Ashikaga Shogunate family, but also the Toyotomi family and the Tokugawa family, and now it is housed in the Tokyo National Museum and carefully stored as a national treasure.
This work is the work of the Heian period swordmaker Sanjo Munechika, and the inscription "Sanjo" is engraved on the back. Native works are rare, and it can be said that they are gems in excellent state of preservation.

■歴史を纏う名刀
『三日月宗近』は、日本刀の中でも特に優れた天下五剣の1振りに数えられる名刀です。室町幕府十三代将軍である足利義輝が、永禄の変でこの刀を振るい奮闘した逸話が有名です。
刀身に、三日月のように輝く打除けが多数あることから、この名がつけられたと言われています。
足利将軍家だけでなく、豊臣家、そして徳川家と名家を渡り歩き、現在は東京国立博物館に所蔵され、国宝として大切に保管されています。
本作は、平安時代の刀工、三条宗近の作で、裏に『三条』と、銘が彫られています。在銘の作は稀少で、その中でも優れた保存状態の逸品と言えます。
拵は、天下五剣にふさわしい絢爛な糸巻太刀拵となっており、金梨子地の鞘は勿論、現存する拵では失われている金物も揃っています。
日本が誇る美術品としても、その歴史的意義からも日本刀文化に欠かせない一振りです。
