It's cuter to use it smaller, but if you use it bigger, I think it's cute if you blur it with a filter or lower the layer transparency.

If the color is blown out, reduce opacity the brush or layer.
Since there is no color on top of black,
In that case, try using it on an additive (luminous) layer or screen.
