If you’ve ever struggled with creating period costumes for your characters, then allow me to share my humble wares with you!

My name is Kit, and I’m a comic artist and illustrator with a background in theatrical costume design.

This layer template consists of multiple folders containing 10 croquis sketches from 4 unique eras from the European Middle Ages (700-1400CE). Simply drag the icon from the materials palette onto your canvas, select the image you want to work with and discard the rest. I suggest using distortion tools such as Liquify and Mesh to achieve desired proportions and body shapes.

Check out this speed paint demo:

The file also contains three pages of illustrated glossary to inform your research and designs. This is a concise introduction to costume terminology, rather than an exhaustive one, but has everything you need to get started.

Also, if you’d rather have a PSD file, or have early access to other future guides in this series, than consider checking out my ko-fi account. If you like, you can help me buy a coffee and continue making these!
