You can switch off the automatic glow by ticking off 'Dual brush' in Tool property window.
Tilting the pen will affect the tightness of coils. Vertical pen will draw tighter, more jagged line, tilted pen will elongate it.
I reccommend drawing the lightning branches by starting from tip and draw towards the base while applying pressure.
The brush can also be used for drawing twisted branches, rocky terrain, cracks, chipped concrete or anything that could use a jagged line :)
