The Guarda Pampa has its roots in the pre-Columbian indigenous traditions of the Pampas region. The guards were woven into ponchos, sashes, and other textiles used by the natives and later by the gauchos of the pampas. The geometric motifs remained, but they were also adapted and evolved to reflect the life and experiences of the gauchos.
With the arrival of the Spaniards in the sixteenth century and the subsequent colonization, there was a cultural exchange that impacted both the indigenous people and the colonizers. Traditional weaving began to merge with European techniques, giving rise to new forms and styles in clothing.

La Guarda Pampa tiene sus raíces en las tradiciones indígenas precolombinas de la región pampeana. Las guardas se tejían en ponchos, fajas, y otros textiles utilizados por los nativos y posteriormente por los gauchos de las pampas. Los motivos geométricos se mantuvieron, pero también se adaptaron y evolucionaron para reflejar la vida y las experiencias de los gauchos.
Con la llegada de los españoles en el siglo XVI y la posterior colonización, hubo un intercambio cultural que impactó tanto a los indígenas como a los colonizadores. Los tejidos tradicionales comenzaron a fusionarse con técnicas europeas, dando lugar a nuevas formas y estilos en la vestimenta.
