A palette based on the 12 signs of the Western Zodiac.
I thought it would be fun to make a palette based on the western zodiac, so here it is. The zodiac has many different interpretations and myths associated with it, so these colors aren't really "definitive". Feel free to create your own based on what you think the signs' colors should be, I think a variety of zodiac palettes would be fun! :D
The palettes plus some explanation for each below.
Aries ♈︎ - Fire sign. The golden wool ram. Solid browns, rich gold, & warm red-orange.
Taurus ♉︎- Earth sign. The color palette was based on aurochs (Bos primigenius), ancient and sadly extinct wild cattle. Earthy greens with a rich red brown complement & a midnight blue to round out the trio. Like a landscape.
Gemini ♊︎ - Air sign. The twins, Castor & Pollux. A contrasting royal purple with a heavenly gold & white, showing the brothers' heritage and the divide between earthly and mystical.
Cancer ♋︎ - Water sign. A range of pink & blues for passion and emotions, the palette was based off the Blue Crab (Callinectes sapidus).
Leo ♌︎ - Fire sign. Rich, sandy lion colors for an intense regal look.
Virgo ♍︎ - Earth sign. A studious palette for a studious maiden. Gently desaturated, but strong dark green-blues for sturdiness.
Libra ♎︎ - Air sign. The scales of justice. Went with a warm/cool balance, blue for truth & peace, gold for strength and warmth.
Scorpio ♏︎ - Water sign. Did you know all scorpions glow under Ultraviolet light? The palette is based on their mysterious glow.
Sagittarius ♐︎ - Fire sign. Classic mythology says that prophets are born under this sign. The bold, bright contrast of warm colors over a mystic blue is like light pointing in the darkness (if that makes sense!).
Capricorn ♑︎ - Earth sign. The sea-goat. A muted palette for the muted time of year the sign is in, with a balance of earthy brown and earthy green. Steadiness & growth.
Aquarius ♒︎ - Air sign. The water bearer of the Greek Pantheon. Lots of light, fluffy colors for a celestial touch.
Pisces ♓︎ - Water sign. The connected fish. A collection of optimistic blues & greens, creates a nice shimmery effect when put together.
