Fitzpatrick skin set (with terminator)

Content ID:2021625

This material can be used in Studio Mode. (What is Studio Mode?)

Gradient set of a variety of skin tones based from the Fitzpatrick scale with a red tone line in each to color the terminator.

An updated set from my previous Fitzpatrick skin tone set. NOTE: The illustrations in the photos are not mine, they are from another artist, the usage of them in here is only for example purposes.

One of the key features that separate skin coloring from any other coloring is the unique color the terminator region has. For those who do not know, the terminator region is that smooth transition between the light mid tone and the dark midtone as shown here:

The issue is, as far as I am aware, there is no easy, convenient way to color this region without resorting to manual, tedious methods which takes up enormous amount of work hours. And there is no feature in Clip Studio that I am aware of that allows to color terminator region automatically.

However, with the example provided, there is a workaround with gradient maps and my set has done just that. Here are some examples I will give to illustrate how they operate:

As you can see, with a well constructed grayscale with sufficient amount of gray tones, the set is capable of coloring the terminator regions instantly. Depending how well defined your grayscale is, you may need to do some post-color touch ups here and there, however, the examples shown should suffice to illustrate that for most grayscales made out there, such extras are not necessary.

In the set are included 14 color schemes, a gradient set which has all six main variants of the Fitzpatrick scale, and two grayscale samples, one with a pre-set terminator node created for your convenience.

Enjoy the set and happy coloring!
