This brush uses the foreground and background colors, to ensure a "usual" effect the foreground color has to be darker and saturated than the background color.
There is also the option to activate the "change tip color" option, which will activate presets that change the color according to pen pressure, in which case it is recommended to use the brush only with the background color.
You can also change the "change tip color" settings to suit your needs.
