A variety of basic digital painting brushes, perfect for the beginner or for modifying & making your own.
Sometimes, I feel like the Clip Studio Default tools need a few extra default brushes. These expand on basic brushes, providing variations for pens, pencils, and calligraphy brushes. I have a hard belief that pens like this should not be sold for money, so I'm giving these to you guys for free to modify and do as you please. These are a Base set, something you can experiment and expand upon. I'd feel dirty for charging for brushes like this, so they'll always be free.
These brushes can be modified as much as you want. You can even publish the modified brushes since they use the [default circle tip], or add your own tip & then publish to give it a unique feel. All brushes change color freely, so no worries.
These are a lot, so there is no fancy preview, my apologies.
Quick Explanation on the types of [Color Mixing]:
- Blend - The Default for paint brushes in Clip Studio.
- Running Color - will be called [blur] in the brush set for space. This is a soft mixer that looks like you're blending with water, and turns the brush fuzzy. It is also a great setting for making blenders & blur tools (set Amount & Density of paint to 0 to create your own blender).
- Smear - will be called [Canvas Mixing] for the brushes. The most recent color mixing addition. Feels very close to other painting programs, as well as close to real life (thus "canvas mixing" to suggest wet on wet paint). The only mixer to work with dual brushes.
Not Pictured: none. Some brushes only use opacity & density to blend, and those will be in this pack too.
All painting was done on a canvas with 350px resolution:

In order:
- Basic Density - Density Pressure is on. Great for softer cell shading and hair.
- Gentle Density - Fuzzier density pen. Turn on [blend brush tip with darken] for a lighter brush.
- Basic Opacity + Density - this is your essential digital painter. Slightly soft.
- Basic Opacity + Density Variation - This is my prefered variation of the previous brush. Blends a bit better with a slightly painterly look. Great for speedpaints.
- Canvas Mixing Paint, soft - Fuzzier paint. Reminds me of another popular art program's markers.
- Canvas Mixing Paint, Hard - the Hard variant of the previous. Harder & streakier for a painterly look.
- Soft melting Blur - medium settings, high color strech, & low hardness combine for a very, very fuzzy brush that blends itself well.
- Hard Melting Blur - High paint settings, low color strech, slight softness, a streakier look.
- Basic Blend Paint - It's the most basic of all blending paints. 50 50 with pressure, streaky look. Turn down hardness for less streak.
- Basic Blend Paint Softer - Same as the above, but with different hardness & pressure curves for a gentler experience. It also uses density to make the ends softer. Nice impressionistic feeling.
- Basic Blend Paint [High Amount of Paint] and...
- Basic Blend Paint [High Density of Paint] are two sister paints. They're here to demonstrate the different looks between the two.Their pressure curves are inverse to each other.
- Basic Blend: 30, 30, 40 - Another easy to blend painter, this time with the Blend mechanic. Can be streaky or soft all depending on pressure.
- Overflow Spray Blend Mix - Based on my overflow pens of the same name. Control how bumpy it is with spray deviation & particle size/density. This is a Particle/Spray Pen, it might run slower on less powerful hardware.
- Soft Square - runs on opacity & density like #3, just with a fuzzy square tip.
Other Brushes for Coloring:

- Fill Brush - This is a brush that works with the anti overflow mechanic. Set your lineart to "reference", create a new layer, & use this brush to fill in the gaps. A brush like this one used to be a part of Clip's default brushes, which you can still download from the store. Mine has different pressure, size, & anti-overflow settings, and I encourage you to change them to suit your picture as well.
- Dense Particles - Makes fun textures with the particle mechanic.
- Watery Ink - Looks like a fuzzy ink wash, but without a paper texture (feel free to add one!). Give a watercolor border for a crunchy look.
- Cloudy Airbrush - Strangely decent at painting clouds.
