A traditional pigment color.

Derived from Latin meaning 'dead head,' Caput Mortuum is a traditional pigment made from hematite iron oxide. It was often used for oil paints and paper dye, and was favored for depicting the clothing of religious figures and other people of note in paintings. This color set includes pure Caput Mortuum, as well as tints, tones, and shades of the color.

Try it for shading light and medium skin, especially with watercolor or oil styled brushes.
