A set of watercolor brushes and crayon pens to messily sketch with!

New!  Scroll down for 3 new brushes :0

When I was in high school, I liked to spend my leftover time in classes sketching messy doodles with crayons and then filling them in with watercolors.  It was relaxing since I didn't have to worry about creating something great and let me get more practice in with the medium.  This set is meant to evoke the same feeling - sketching and coloring without worrying about a masterpiece!

Here are the strokes of each brush:
Fluffy Watercolor - a brush that looks like it is coloring on puckered multimedia sketchbook paper.  It is a particle brush that has optional hue jitter & random color per stroke, all of which can be turned on and off.  I tend to adjust the watercolor border to be more or less visible depending on the size of the brush :0  Bigger = more visible for me.

Detailer Watercolor - A normal brush with an easy to control stroke.  Watercolor border is turned off so it doesn't get too dark when layered.

Classroom Crayon - a pen with a somewhat fuzzy tip & a rough texture meant to mimic wax being caught on rough paper.  Bold & fun to scribble with, feel free to adjust the pressure curve!

Sketching Crayon - Like the classroom crayon, but with lower density and opacity.  I like keeping it around 75% opacity for greater control over layering.  Great for manually blending colors as well as sketching.

Crayons are water resistant.  If you'd like to mimic the waxy nature of crayons, you can duplicate the layer you drew on and color the duplicate white, then put the duplicate white layer below the color layer.  That way, it looks like the watercolors didn't get all the way into the paper due to the crayon :0
Without a white layer underneath (left) vs with a white layer underneath (right).

Normal (left), with white layer set to 85% opacity on right.

I don't know how many people like to doodle with crayons like I do, but I hope you enjoy this set if you do!  Thanks for reading, have a lovely day c:

Update October 7th, 2021:

Added 3 New brushes: the Denser Sketching Crayon, the Oil Pastel, & the Crayon Smudger!

All 3 were used on this drawing, with the lines being the Denser Crayon, the coloring being the Oil Pastel, & a bit of blending with the smudger.

The Denser Crayon:

It is similar in pressure to the regular sketching crayon, but with a different tip and different gap.  Gives a more even, solid line.

The Oil Pastel:

It has the same tip as the crayon, but the paint blends and the marks leave behind a painterly feel.  Feel free to adjust it to your comfort levels.

Smudge:

On the top is two colors unblended, below is the colors blended by the blender.  The left side is blending 2 hard colors made with a regular untextured pen, & the right is the oil pastel blended.  I think it makes a fun texture for both.

Thanks again!

I got caught drawing in class again...

...that's ok I'm not in trouble!
