Here’s a 4K 2D animation template. The key difference is that this setup matches the resolution standards required for theatrical projection under the Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI).

This is something you definitely want to keep in mind if you’re aiming for film festivals where selected shorts are screened in actual cinemas, not just on TVs or monitors. Projection specs matter, and delivering in the correct format can save you a lot of headaches down the pipeline.

This is my setup when creating the template. I’d recommend to fill the “Story Name” and check the “Set name automatically” to keep things organized.

I usually keep it centered, and for the playback duration, just set whatever works for your project. In my case, I go with 10 seconds as a default — it’s a clean starting point for most shots or test animations.
