I tend to draw hair a little differently than I keep being told I should but I'm just too fond of coloring by hand to use tips and tricks with beta and filling and all that. Soooo here's a kit for those like me who like to torture themselves and put down each stroke one painstaking layer at a time. <3
(You can also be a sane person and just use these to add texture at the end, you do you~)
The pens are all named after ancient goddesses for fun.
Al-Lat Blocking Pen - For putting down the basic flat shape of a hairstyle.
Ishtar Strand Pen - For drawing stray single strands.
Manaat Layering Pen - For texturizing layers of color, it's very smooth and blends immediately, so use pen pressure to increase the density of each new color.
Ashera Layering Pen - Much less blendy than the Manaat Pen, almost opaque. This one is good for making brighter colors stand out.
Shams Bundle Pen - A tapered bundle pen that can be used at different sizes for different effects. This one is most like other 'realistic' hair brushes, but blendy because if it isn't obvious by now, I have a preference for brushes that mix smoothly.
Isaf Rake Pen - A rake brush without color mixing (but it can be turned on, if you prefer). Used to add more visible texture.
*The layering pens all have auto-blur enabled, very lightly brush over colors to give them a mixed, soft blur effect!
I hope these come in useful!
