A simple yet powerful color set for grey scale values in manga.
Best used with:
600DPI
Greater than or equal to 60 frequency
Directions:
1. (dark clothes). Next to the black is your darkest provided grey, this grey acts as the highlights for your dark clothes. Try thinking of the grey as the base and the black as a shadow
2. (skin). Next to your plain white color are two different values, one lighter and one darker. These are shadows used on the skin. I find myself using the darker one more often while the lighter one is used for blending.
3. (Variety). Id recommend finding a pressure based value brush if you are doing more detailed panels, this makes blending far easier and allows you to further stylize the shading.
4. (Composition). To the right side of the color set I provided an example of the values next to each other, keep in mind that in manga the black and white values will always convert most of the story and show composition, but it is important to use screentones greys to convey even more feelings. My biggest bonus tip your going to get for reading this far: the character/object with the most visual contrast in values will always become the focal point.
