The PC-98 16-bit Shader is for artists seeking a pixel-perfect, 16-bit aesthetic. Creating colored dithering effects in Clip Studio Paint

I hope you enjoy using this! It took a couple of days to troubleshoot and get working perfectly in a simple package.

If you make something cool with it tag me or DM me on Bluesky at @koh-dee.bsky.social so I check it out!

Quick Setup Guide

  1. Put the folder above your flats or background layers and below your line art.

  2. Select the folder's Layer Color. Click the color box and pick your hex code.

  3. Click the Draw Here layer to start drawing!

  4. Use any brush with anti-aliasing at none or the fill tool. Paint with Black to show the dither; paint with Transparent to hide it.

  5. Use the G Pen for stepped transitions, soft airbrush for gradients.

  6. Dithering Density

    • 50% Opacity = Checkerboard.
