Select the template when creating a new canvas
To export your art at the cropped size, select the white area of the template layer. You can do this by making sure you are on the template layer and using the "Refer to editing layer only" auto select tool.
In the bar below, you can choose this option, which will crop your canvas to the selection you've made.
