Use the lasso tool to draw instead of making selections. Fill big areas quickly without having to switch tools after making a selection.
Just use it as you would the Lasso Tool, but instead of making a selection it will paint.
As you can see, by modifying the opacity, you can create gradients easily. This is really good to create shadows, block colors, create quick silhouettes, and even clean up some lines.
