Let's make pixel art together!

This is a big set! It's so big I made a second set, please look for that!  (It will also take a bit to download because it is big, my apologies.)

I meant to enter these in the #retrogame #ASSETSChallenge, but I got sick and couldn't post in time.  Oh well ;w;.  I want you guys to have them so I'm posting them anyway. :)

These are brushes and images that are useful for making games with Pixel Art graphics, also known as Pixel Games.  All of these brushes are set to No Anti-Aliasing, or No AA:

Doing traditional pixel art, you control the Anti-aliasing yourself due to color limitations.  It can be hard to get used to the blocky look if you're not used to it.

Most of these examples will be zoomed in at 200% Zoom.  I'll have a little icon in the corner to show you what size they are.

This is a lot of material, so I have a lot of examples, my apologies! Some have been featured in my other pixel sets before, but there's new and updated assets in here as well.

Basic Brushes
The preview lines I drew range from 1px to 12px - they're very small.

For comparison, here's how everything looks at 100%:

These guys are easy to use and excel at tiny pixel art.  Remember to adjust the size of the pixels of the spray brushes, & to adjust the second brush size for the brush with an outline.

Build-Up Brushes:

These brushes provide a base to use for fake 3D effects, and can be used to create multiple types of shapes.  The organic shaper, for example, is best at creating things like trees and cliffs.  The "box builder" can be used to make buildings, tables, and any other shape that fits in a box.

Of course, I included all the brushes from the Pixel Foliage Pack ( id:1883082 ).

Check out the original post (just paste id:1883082 in search) if you'd like more detail on how I use them.

You also get a new leaf tool in this one, along with a neat little dither.

Brushes - Odds and Ends

These brushes are more niche.

On the left are some gradient brushes, which can be used to make pipes or pillow shade things.  On the right you have stamps: two types of rectangle stamps (please adjust the spacing) which are great for walkways, a generic box shape to use as a base, and 2 different hearts which can be used for health bars or emotions.

The dual dither ones are great for writing logos in addition to lazy dithering:

Tools - Shapes

"Pixel Rectangle" is for both rectangles & squares.  You can also do rounded edges on these squares, but you'll have to clean it up later (more on that in a second).  It is separate from the general "Pixel Shape" because the square is a base for so many objects that it might as well have its own tool.  Pixel Shape is for circles, triangles, and any other type of shape you'd like to try.  Again, they require clean-up later.

Pixel Straight line is your easy straight line maker.  Hold "Shift" on your keyboard to keep your lines at a stiff 45 degree angle.  Pixel Curve is for curved lines.  These too need cleaning, but it is still nice to have.

What do I mean by "clean lines"?

On the left is a line made with the curve tool.  This is ok, but it looks chunky.  It has a weird staircase effect where some of the pixels are touching too close to give the illusion of a clean line.  I highlighted these pixels in red in the center.  The last line is the cleaned up version, with the red pixels removed.  On the 100% view, you can see how the original line looked more chunky thanks to the staircase pixels, while the new one looks like a clean line. :o

Tools - Fill and Select

You have 2 Fill tools.  On the left is the original.  In the center, I used the "Pixel Fill" to fill in the center line without extra anti-aliased pixels.  On the right, I used "Replace Pixel Color" to make sure all of the dark blue turned to yellow.  The selection tools do the same thing, making it easy to recolor outlines and fill in areas with patterns. :)

Tile Images

I decided to include some repeating tiles in color this time.  Try them out if you'd like:

I also included an easy to change color image so you can either change the colors or to see how things are grouped:

And for easy use, I've included a few pixel character bases.

Either use them as-is, modify them to your own style, or use them as inspiration.

Lastly, you get some bonus items to get you started.  A set of tiny emojis, & various overworld objects on a 3/4ths perspective, common in RPGs:

Along with the Latin Alphabet.  I personally wrote these letters out a long time ago and converted them into a font for my own use, but you can't distribute fonts so I'm just giving you them as an image if you'd like to copy/paste them to form words.

[Translated: Pixel art is hard, but as long as you keep trying to improve, you can do it!]
Make sure to check out part 2 for more pixel things!

Hi, I'm Saturn and I enjoy Pixel Art & making CSP assets too much. Most of my stuff is free, but I also have some fancy brushes you can buy in my links. Feel free to check it out, but no worries if you only use free stuff. It's meant to be used anyway! :D
