Try it first at a small size for body text, then increase the size for titles or signatures. It works better with confident strokes than slow over-controlled strokes. Leave extra line spacing so the thick strokes and flourishes do not crowd together.
Examples in the graphic below were made with this pen. The left side uses a 1546 quote by John Heywood, but the lettering was made with this brush. The examples on the right (pardon the pun) were written by me.
Suggested tests:
Write a large title, such as “Tempus Fugit.”
Write one short sentence underneath.
Add a larger signature or final word.
For cleaner results, do not pack paragraphs too tightly. This pen is strongest for old letters, fantasy documents, dramatic captions, signatures, books, signs, journals, wanted posters, ship logs, and decorative writing, just to name a few. Think quill or fountain pen.
This is my first shared CSP brush. I hope you enjoy using it, and I hope it helps add some old manuscript flavor to your art.
