BASICS

This auto-action creates a "mask" to hide the three different comic borders areas of your choosing when you have the comic settings enabled. The comic borders being: TRIM border (binding/finish size), BLEED border, and SAFETY border (inner border) which are important margins for printing comics. You can use this for single page or combined pages (spread)!

This autoaction will adapt to any type of comic template you want or have (i.e. manga, manhwa, webtoon etc.), just as long as you have the comic settings enabled as this asset relies heavily on that setting.

HOW TO USE

You can use this to check how your page looks during production, or you can export your pages with the "mask" still visible.

By default the mask is [white] at 100% opacity.

Choose [custom] to pick any colour you want. You can even colour pick your workspace background so that it blends.

TRIM mask

Masks/hides everything beyond the trim or binding size of the comic.

This gives a preview of the page when it's cut and binded in a book, or at least approximately. Gradient not included.

BLEED mask

Masks/hides everything beyond the bleed border. If you want to know what the page looks with bleed area included. Gradient not included.

SAFETY mask

Masks/hides everything beyond the safety zone or inner border. In case you want to hide everything that area. Gradient not included.

SPREAD mask

Applicable for page spreads or combined pages, whether with aligned or not aligned crop marks. Likely will not work for CSP PRO users.

IMPORTANT STEPS!

1) import the block asset

2) move the block L to left side, and R to right side of the spread. (you can probably interchange them they'll be both selected in the process)

3) play any auto action for ▣▣ SPREAD

Autoaction for Opacity

To change opacity% using the autoaction, select the mask first! (The opacity autoactions can be used on any layer but that layer will be locked in the process, use with caution or edit it for yourself).

Make sure to unlock the layer first and use the operation tool to change the colour via the colour wheel or slider. You can save your own favourite custom colour in a colour set for fast referencing, or edit the autoaction if you can.

IMPORTANT

Your Comic Settings must be enabled in order for this auto-action to work. If not then the auto-action will automatically use the edge of your canvas and it will look weird!

Mask is set to draft layer so that you don't accidentally export the comic with the mask visible. If you want it included (for whatever reason) tick the draft in your export window or disable draft in the layer.

mask edges might show a small margin of error but it is negligible.

If this error appears click OK. This is likely due to a redundancy error of the layer order.

transcript: "Currently [Top] cannot be executed. Do you want t proceed?". Click YES.

Gradient is not included in the autoaction.

If the masking looks weird you should check your comic settings first.

Exceptions: if your panel bleeds out the page, this autoaction will not account for that because it's focused only on the comic border settings. BUT you can select inside the border of the panel and erase parts of the mask.
