Consejos:

EDITAR: ¡Agregué líneas para las plumas! Para poder utilizarlos, primero:

I personally love avians, but I’ve had some issues replicating complex feather colorations. I figured a brush like this would come in handy for the future!

Please note that these materials are not exactly meant to build a wing, rather supplement the already created wing with accent feathers that would normally be painstaking to create by hand. Depending on the amount of detail wanted, you may want to come back and define a few individual feathers with a lineart brush, but I would not suggest doing that for every feather. Sometimes, when drawing, you don’t want to go into too much detail!

I tried to fit in the most common feather colorations that I could find/think of. I’m fully aware that these patterns are not inclusive of every feather coloration.

I’ll be coming up with more feathery, bird wing based brushes in the future, so you can look forward to that!

Tips:

Separate wing parts on different layers to get desired level of definition.
I only created the feathers for the right wing. To get the left wing versions, just duplicate the brush, go to its options, go under “brush tip”, and select “flip” under “flip horizontal.”
If you don’t like the top edge of the feathers, use a layer mask to erase them or fade them out.
If you have a problem getting the wings to be even or have a nice shape, try using a vector layer so you can change the pressure (size) on various parts of the wings.
I don’t have a way to make the feathers have three or more colors. Yet. I have things planned. ;)

Also, later, I’ll have a better demo for the brushes. Planning on drawing a bird character of mine in the near future that will show you the full potential. :)

EDIT: I added lines for the feathers! In order to use them, first:

1. Register the lines for shapes 1 and 2 as a preset in the “brush shape” tab on the sub tool details. Then, make a vector layer and draw out your feathers using one of the brushes.

2. Duplicate the layer. Then, select the path on top with the operation tool.

3. Change the colors to black and white.

4. Change the shape to the matching preset.

5. Then, set the layer to multiply.

Now your feathers have lines!

If you want to make your lines white, the process is similar, only you change your feathers to white and black instead of black and white:

Then, set that layer to “screen.”

Once you have all this situated and you’re certain your wings are as you want them…rasterize and merge your feather line and feather colors layers together to make things a little simpler!
