I think that the monochromatic gradation is easy to use without the habit either.
Because the bottom is adjusted for myself completely (especially the second half), the far-use might be slight.
What if you want to workin' the opacity and combine mode of the layer and overlap the original image?

ネーミングはなんとなくのイメージで……。
薄苔と漆墨がお気に入り。
蒐珪と鋼影はなんちゃってメタリック。このふたつは反転してもいい感じです。
